DID KROGER MAKE IT'S MOVE TO SOON?

At the time of the alleged rape of April Hall at the Kroger's Poplar Plaza location Geryl Hill still had a license to be a security guard in the state of Tennessee. The rape charge that 31 year old security guard Geryl Hill now faces may or may not be true. The charges are solely based on the statement of a woman who was thought to be shoplifting alone with her cousin.

It's also interesting that the woman gave her phone number to Hill and did not contact the police until the next day after calling Kroger's first. Is it possible that the call to Kroger's was a call to demand money after plotting a payment based on a lie? Is Kroger's moving to fast in putting Security First out of business when the alleged act can not be proven and Hill has not had his day in court?

Checking General Sessions Court records there's three April Hall's listed. two of which is mostly likely the same person seeing that the birth month and date is the same and only the year is different. That April Hall has numerous charges of theft of property and even a charge of passing bad checks.

Is it possible that Hill caught the woman stealing and while upstairs in the security room at Kroger's April Hall used her female charms to get the guard to release her in exchange for her phone number and the promise of sexual favors, and then thought of a scheme to say that she was raped and sue Kroger's? Hmmmmmm. Is it possible that Kroger's made it's move to soon?

MCS BOARD SUES FOR $50 MILLION BUT RECEIVED OVER $87 MILLION IN STIMULUS FUNDS

Kriner Cash and the City of Memphis Board of Education is suing the city for $50 million dollars stating that if the city does not allow themselves to be extorted that the system will not be able to provide a quality education for its students.

I say that Cash is a liar and that the board consist of cronies who have their noses so far up his ass that they are beyond reason and will bow to whatever wishes the "The Curly Top One" wants.

Why does Cash state that the system does not have cash to operate when on last year MCS received $83,893,006 in stimulus funding? Documents that I was able to get from sources in city government show that the system has funds to operate programs that educate our children,In fact the system even has $147,063.05 in Homeless Assistance funds.

before MCS receives another dime of taxpayers money Kriner should show where the needs for additional funds are needed and how the stimulus money is being used.

JOHN FORD BACK IN MEMPHIS TO TESTIFY IN CASE OF TENNCARE DOCTOR

Former state senator John Ford is back in Memphis to testify in the federal trial of Dr. Robert Morgan which is set to start on May 15th. Ford arrived in Memphis last week after spending a couple of weeks in a federal facility in Oklahoma.
Ford who has been in contact with members of his family is doing his time at the Yazoo City Federal Correctional Complex. A media outlet sent word through a family friend that they wanted a recent picture of Ford, and rightfully so the family has refused. This outlet only wanted to see if prison has changed the appearance of the former Memphis politician so that from now until the trial is over his picture could be flashed all over the screen.

CLERK'S DREAM MAY JUST BECOME HIS BIGGEST NIGHTMARE

General Sessions Court clerk Otis Jackson surprised many political observers by filing to run for Shelby County mayor. Some or saying that someone has paid him to be the democratic spoiler, others are saying he's running to build his name for another race, then there are those who say he's running to get paid to get out, and then most say that his political advisor and employee Del Gill is behind it all.

I have spoken with some who know Jackson who state that he started talking about being mayor last week,In fact one person that I spoke with claims that Jackson told them that it has always been his dream to be county mayor.
What ever his reason he needs to realize that he does not have a remote chance of winning and that his entry into the county mayor's race may endanger his chances for re-election to his present position.

Jackson does not have the name power of a Deidre Malone and certainly not a Ford. His ability to raise money will be hard because of these factors, and if he's labeled a spoiler democrats will turn on him and send him packing when it's time again for him to run for office.

The fact that everyone believes that Del Gill is behind Jackson's idea to run edging him on and telling him that he can win will also hurt him. There are not many democratic organizers and politicians that support the sometime all knowing Gill and will turn on him for just allowing Gill to send him out.

Jackson has a week to withdraw his name and do the job of the general Sessions Court clerk or get ready for the whipping of his life that will go far beyond may 4th.

WILL TAG TEAMING BE ENOUGH TO DEFEAT HERENTON?

Randy Wade administrator of the Memphis office for Congressman Steve Cohen is a candidate for Shelby County Sheriff. Wade who spent over 20 years with the sheriff's department announced last week that he and the congressman will be campaigning together. Could this be a smart campaign maneuver or a sure way to divide his support.

It is my opinion that Wade should run his own race and leave Cohen to battle Willie Herenton for the congressional seat alone. The appearance that he can not win without Cohen,or Cohen can't win without him will divide his support among those who will be choosing sides in the Cohen Herenton battle. With the number of candidates in the race for sheriff both Black and White the votes will be split enough as it is. But with several Black candidates in the race Wade's chances of winning lessens when those who support Herenton choose not to vote for him because he's attached to Cohen's hip.

The thought that tag teaming with Cohen gives Wade an edge looks good to those who support the congressman. But to those who don't it appears that Wade is not being his own man. Randy Wade and I have been friends for nearly 30 years and will be friends after the campaign is over but it is my thought that he should have allowed the congressional candidates to campaign on their own remaining neutral and placing his total attention on running his own campaign instead of appearing to be carrying water for Cohen in the Black community.

MEMPHIS FIRE DEPARTMENT SHARES BLAME IN THE MURDER OF TAFFI CRAWFORD

The Memphis Fire Department shares in the responsibility for the murder of Taffie Crawford at the hands of her ex-boyfriend Frank Graham because officials had been made aware of a threat by Graham to kill the nurse and another firefighter that Graham assumed was involved with the nurse that he killed on her way to work Friday morning at the Delta Medical Center.

I was contacted by a ranking fire department official who wants to make sure the city does not cover up the facts behind this tragic event. According to the fire department source on last week Graham went to station# 33 which is the station located at the airport to confront fellow firefighter Keon Pickford about Crawford.

Graham who had been stalking Crawford argue with Pickford at the station and told him "I'm going to kill you and that bitch". Pickford fearing for his life wrote a letter that is called redlining to Air Crash Chief Johnathan M. Weeks. In the red line letter he reported that Graham had threaten to kill him and Taffi Crawford. But instead of calling the police or passing the letter on to higher ranking fire officials Weeks set on the letter never reporting the incident.

It is possible that had Weeks turned the letter over to the police or other fire department officials Taffi Crawford may still be alive. The threat to do bodily harm would have been enough to get him off the streets, the question remains why didn't Weeks act upon the letter.

There have been many reports of incidents with firefighters lately with many not being acted upon by fire officials. It's even thought that police believe that firefighters are part of a brotherhood and turn their eyes to acts of violence by the firefighters.

Several weeks ago a young lady was a guest on my radio show that had been living with a firefighter for several years. She stated how Clifton Griffin who happens to work at station #2 which is the same station that Graham worked out of had attacked her. pulled a gun on her, and force her out of the house they shared. When the police arrived several months ago at their home even with bruises on her face and neck she was the one taken to jail. the woman stated that Griffin stated to her that he was a fireman and the police was not going to do anything to him.

Clifton Griffin has a history of domestic violence, The woman supplied me with a copy of a police report that showed that Griffin had punched and drugged a former live in girlfriend. In fact the woman Latonia Campbell is a firefighter and the report also shows that Griffin punched her then 14 year old son when the son came to his mother's aide while being assaulted by Griffin.

The source at the fire department speaks of other firefighter who have committed acts of violence. I'm told that Maurice Jones out of station #37 was fired last week for pistol whipping a youth in his yard. I'm told that Jerry Holmes at station #38 whipped a man with a hammer, Marcus Riley at station #55 was accused of raping his wife's sister, Johnnie b. Harrison at station #6 beat his wife, and a Lt. Joseph Short was fired for domestic violence. It's also reported that on Monday at station #33 a Lt. Busby and a Lt. Scott Miller got to fighting and had to be parted and sent to other stations.

It seems as though there are some serious problems with firefighters I wonder if mayor Wharton will look as hard at this matter of firefighters abusing women as he has city employees abusing dogs?

MALONE SAYS "I AIN'T SCARED"

On Saturday as she opened up her campaign headquarters on Poplar, Shelby County Commissioner Deidre Malone declared that she's not afraid of any in the race or might get in the race for mayor of Shelby county. Taking a shot at Shelby County interim mayor Joseph Ford Malone stated"While I'm not from a family whose tradition is politics Im ready and prepared to serve".

Many political candidates where present including Carlton Orange candidate for county registrar, Norma Lester who hopes to replace Malone on the commission,Steve Webster candidate for Circuit Court Clerk,Clay Perry and Danny Kail both candidates for Probate Clerk,Reginald Milton candidate for the county Commission and others. Also present was County Commissioner Sidney Chism,Gale Jones Carson, and even Shelby County political boss Bobby Lanier made an appearance.

Malone hopes to be the democratic nominee for the position on May 4th, and the winner in a contest between herself and Sheriff Mark Luttrell who has also announced that he is running for the county mayor's position. Joseph Ford's getting in the race could complicate her her success because with both her and Ford in the race will split the Black vote and guarantee Luttrell a winner considering that the sheriff will also receive a percentage of the White democrat crossover.

If Ford does not enter the race Malone will be the democratic candidate to face Luttrell in August but the question remains can she raise enough money to mount the massive campaign that republicans will finance to make sure that Luttrell wins. And the broke Shelby County Democratic Party will be no help to her there last report showed the political organization having just a little over $4,000.

WILL HE OR WON'T HE RUN

The big political question of today is will interim county mayor Joe Ford run for a full term for the office he now holds. Even though he stated when selected that he would not run, there is nothing to keep him from changing his mind and going forth.

As of Friday Ford had not pulled a petition to run but he has until noon on Thursday to file his petition and declare himself as a candidate for county mayor. There are those who say that Joe Ford will not pass up the chance to run even though fellow democrat Deidre Malone has already declared and is running.

HERENTON IS READY TO KICK ASS

Hundreds filled the Holiday Inn at 3700 Central as Dr. WW. Herenton kicked off what will most likely go down in Memphis history as the toughest political battle in the city's history.

The former mayor of Memphis entered the rooms to cheers as many in the crowd just wanted to touch him or let him know that they were present. Political leaders,Preachers, and political hopefuls and common citizens attended just to be part of the call to battle.

County commissioner and campaign manager Sidney Chism told the crowd "It's to clean up what we messed up" calling for the election of election of Herenton and the defeat of Steve Cohen with his millions. Chism went on to tell the crowd of mostly Blacks that "There is nothing wrong in being represented by someone who looks like us" Chism who at times sounded like a Baptist preacher excited the crowd who responded back "Amen" and "That's right".

Before the entrance of Herenton many in the crowd some who had been in the Cohen camp talked about how Herenton will defeat Cohen and how Cohen will not be able to take the blows of the former boxer who has no plans of giving the two term congressman any time to rest in the corner. Many spoke of how with Randy Wade running for county sheriff there is no "Good Negro" to save him from a knock out blow from the very aggressive Willie Herenton.

When Herenton made it to the stage the political event became spiritual as he took control of the audience who stood in awe as he spoke of his years of poverty as a child,His 12 years as the head of Memphis City Schools,And his 18 years as mayor of Memphis. The former mayor reminded the crowd that when he took office in 1992 there was only $3 million in the bank,But when he left there was $89 million.

Herenton spoke of how desolate downtown was when he was elected, but how he left it flourishing. He spoke of the appearance of housing projects such as Hurt Village, Lamar Terrace, Dixie Homes, and Lemoyne Gardens and how under his administration this projects have become homes that any citizen would love to live in.

Herenton spoke of how his years of service qualifies him for congress, How his years as a educator prepares him to serve on education committees, How he does not want to just names buildings after Blacks but serve in a capacity where Blacks can own buildings and place any one's name on them they choose.

Wendi Thomas who has a negative slant on anything a Black man does must not have been listening when she prints that Herenton did not state what his platform would be the statements he made on education and housing would be a part of a platform wouldn't it. Herenton who appeared on my show on Friday stated that it should not just be up to him to create a platform but to hear from the people to hear what there desires are for a platform.

Many Whites want to be insulted by the fact that Herenton is showing a picture of the Tennessee Congressional Delegation and stating that they are all White. But isn't this a fact? Isn't it a fact that no Black has ever been elected statewide? Isn't it a fact that the 9th Congressional District is the only district in the state carved out for black representation? So why can't Blacks have just one representative? Why do Whites and Blacks that don't want to hurt White folks feelings with the truth hide from the fact that what Herenton is stating is facts not racism?

Many Whites have the mindset of "Why can't we all get along" "Let's put our history of deceit, lies, and abuse of you behind. Many Whites want to declare that the racism of the past no longer exist that it's a brand new day. I can agree that we must go forward but why should I forget my past. Will Whites ask Steve Cohen to forget the plight of Jews, Hell Naw!! then don't ask the B;ack man to forget his.

Now that Blacks in the City and almost in the county make up the majority Whites want to get along after many years of total White rule. Now that Blacks are in powerful political positions term limits is the call of the day.

Don't get mad when Willie Herenton speaks of his history as an impoverished child who rose up to become a force to be reckon with, Who unlike Cohen has lived the same plights as the citizens of the 9th Congressional District, Who unlike Cohen has raised a family? Oh yes there will be those who will state that Herenton is unfit to be congressman because he fathered a child out of wedlock. But I wonder if Cohen will state that he does not want the votes of Black men who like Herenton have children out of wedlock.

Some will say that Herenton should have been indicted and went to jail thus he should not be congressman, But will Cohen ask for all those who in the 9th district that have been to jail or have family members who have been indicted and jailed not to vote for him? I think not. Whatever you think of Herenton he has a closer bond to the citizens of the 9th Congressional District then Cohen.

BY THE WAY WENDI YOU STATED IN YOUR EDITORIAL THAT YOU WERE GLAD YOU DIDN'T EAT BEFORE COMING TO THE EVENT ON SATURDAY, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE FINGER FOOD I SAW YOU EATING THERE? GET OFF THE TIT AND BE YOUR OWN WOMAN

RANDY WADE'S BID FOR COUNTY SHERIFF LEAVES COHEN WITHOUT "A GREAT BLACK HOPE"

I predicted in July of last year after I was told by sources that Sheriff Mark Luttrell would run for County Mayor. I also stated that if Luttrell did in fact run for county mayor that Randy Wade who served for over 20 years in the Sheriff's department would ran for the Sheriff's office.

So I was not surprised when my friend of over 20 plus years called me last week and asked what i thought about him running. I said "Randy if your health is okay and you want it bad enough run for it" And that's exactly what he has decided to do. Randy who served under former A.C. Gilless as Administrative Assistant is well known for his undying loyalty to his friends and his constant desire to serve and has a great chance of winning,But where does that leave Steve Cohen?

Wade has served as the right arm of the 2 term congressman and has also served as Cohen's biggest link to the Black community and the Black vote,His departure will cause serious harm to a campaign that will need all the Black support that can be garnered to defeat Dr. Willie W. Herenton who wants to take the job away from Cohen.

Many Blacks only supported Cohen because they were asked by Wade,Many churches opened their doors solely because Wade had relationships with many Black pastors. With Wade who has told me he's leaving Cohen's staff in latter March not running advance Steve Cohen will have many doors that have been open in the past closed.

Wade cannot afford to get involved in Cohen's race if he wants to be sheriff,His campaign must stay away from giving the appearance that he is either supporting Cohen or Herenton,He must stay neutral so as not to alienate any voters.

With Wade gone I wonder what Negro will the congressman turn to for help?

JUSTIN FORD TO GIVE AWAY GAS WEDNESDAY IN WHITEHAVEN

Justin Ford candidate for County Commission seat District 3. Position 3 will be giving away gas on Wednesday at the BP at Winchester and Millbranch. Justin the son of County Mayor Joe Ford will purchase gas for the first 300 cars to arrive at the BP between 3-7 pm.

Ford as he pumps gas will be asking county residents what it is that they want from the Shelby County Commission and what is their agenda for service. Ford states that he is not concern about interim commissioner Edith Moore or James Catchings who have also pulled petitions to run for the seat. He says that he will follow his family's tradition of service.

Justin states that in these hard times his campaign dollars are better spent aiding the citizens of Shelby County then covering their yards with campaign signs.

No cars with out of state or out of county tags will receive the free gas,Ford states that the 40,000 plus that come into this county daily from out of state and from other counties receive enough when they don't have to leave any tax dollars in Shelby County. Citizens from all districts of Shelby County are welcome to come and receive the free gas.

This Blog was hacked into and compromised on Thursday January 28th but I am now back in business with new security features in place. i know that this is a political season and there are those who wish to silence me, But there methods will not work whether its the compromising of this site or the increase in the monthly rate of my radio talk show that is the most listened to in the afternoon.
My old stories have been saved into a file for my purposes and record but forth coming is some of the hardest written history of this blog. It's now time for me to head to the station but later tonight all of the features of the site including the ads will return and remember
