HERENTON IS READY TO KICK ASS

Hundreds filled the Holiday Inn at 3700 Central as Dr. WW. Herenton kicked off what will most likely go down in Memphis history as the toughest political battle in the city's history.

The former mayor of Memphis entered the rooms to cheers as many in the crowd just wanted to touch him or let him know that they were present. Political leaders,Preachers, and political hopefuls and common citizens attended just to be part of the call to battle.

County commissioner and campaign manager Sidney Chism told the crowd "It's to clean up what we messed up" calling for the election of election of Herenton and the defeat of Steve Cohen with his millions. Chism went on to tell the crowd of mostly Blacks that "There is nothing wrong in being represented by someone who looks like us" Chism who at times sounded like a Baptist preacher excited the crowd who responded back "Amen" and "That's right".

Before the entrance of Herenton many in the crowd some who had been in the Cohen camp talked about how Herenton will defeat Cohen and how Cohen will not be able to take the blows of the former boxer who has no plans of giving the two term congressman any time to rest in the corner. Many spoke of how with Randy Wade running for county sheriff there is no "Good Negro" to save him from a knock out blow from the very aggressive Willie Herenton.

When Herenton made it to the stage the political event became spiritual as he took control of the audience who stood in awe as he spoke of his years of poverty as a child,His 12 years as the head of Memphis City Schools,And his 18 years as mayor of Memphis. The former mayor reminded the crowd that when he took office in 1992 there was only $3 million in the bank,But when he left there was $89 million.

Herenton spoke of how desolate downtown was when he was elected, but how he left it flourishing. He spoke of the appearance of housing projects such as Hurt Village, Lamar Terrace, Dixie Homes, and Lemoyne Gardens and how under his administration this projects have become homes that any citizen would love to live in.

Herenton spoke of how his years of service qualifies him for congress, How his years as a educator prepares him to serve on education committees, How he does not want to just names buildings after Blacks but serve in a capacity where Blacks can own buildings and place any one's name on them they choose.

Wendi Thomas who has a negative slant on anything a Black man does must not have been listening when she prints that Herenton did not state what his platform would be the statements he made on education and housing would be a part of a platform wouldn't it. Herenton who appeared on my show on Friday stated that it should not just be up to him to create a platform but to hear from the people to hear what there desires are for a platform.

Many Whites want to be insulted by the fact that Herenton is showing a picture of the Tennessee Congressional Delegation and stating that they are all White. But isn't this a fact? Isn't it a fact that no Black has ever been elected statewide? Isn't it a fact that the 9th Congressional District is the only district in the state carved out for black representation? So why can't Blacks have just one representative? Why do Whites and Blacks that don't want to hurt White folks feelings with the truth hide from the fact that what Herenton is stating is facts not racism?

Many Whites have the mindset of "Why can't we all get along" "Let's put our history of deceit, lies, and abuse of you behind. Many Whites want to declare that the racism of the past no longer exist that it's a brand new day. I can agree that we must go forward but why should I forget my past. Will Whites ask Steve Cohen to forget the plight of Jews, Hell Naw!! then don't ask the B;ack man to forget his.

Now that Blacks in the City and almost in the county make up the majority Whites want to get along after many years of total White rule. Now that Blacks are in powerful political positions term limits is the call of the day.

Don't get mad when Willie Herenton speaks of his history as an impoverished child who rose up to become a force to be reckon with, Who unlike Cohen has lived the same plights as the citizens of the 9th Congressional District, Who unlike Cohen has raised a family? Oh yes there will be those who will state that Herenton is unfit to be congressman because he fathered a child out of wedlock. But I wonder if Cohen will state that he does not want the votes of Black men who like Herenton have children out of wedlock.

Some will say that Herenton should have been indicted and went to jail thus he should not be congressman, But will Cohen ask for all those who in the 9th district that have been to jail or have family members who have been indicted and jailed not to vote for him? I think not. Whatever you think of Herenton he has a closer bond to the citizens of the 9th Congressional District then Cohen.

BY THE WAY WENDI YOU STATED IN YOUR EDITORIAL THAT YOU WERE GLAD YOU DIDN'T EAT BEFORE COMING TO THE EVENT ON SATURDAY, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE FINGER FOOD I SAW YOU EATING THERE? GET OFF THE TIT AND BE YOUR OWN WOMAN

WENDI'S SONG

You know, it's hard out here
For a blimp
Fat women cannot skinny dip
With Herenton I love to trip
Cause I think he's really a pimp
It's so hard out here
For a blimp
Stout women must never
Come off as limp

I just don't like Herenton
Should have gone to the Sheronton
And found Steve under a bed
Looks like his re-election is dead
So what happens now?
What? Did Willie call me a cow?

It's hard out here for a blimp
Taking insults from a pimp
But take this from the blimp
In August vote for the wimp

Steve, I love you.

Where was Reginald French and his little red bow tie wearing ass?

Where was Larry Godwin and his crocodile smiling ass?

Why did Michael Gray let the Mayor go on for so long?

I would leave Wendi out of this Thaddeus. At least you have people who try and hack into your website......she has to beg/bait them to!

Somebody said they had to baptize her big ass at Sea World.

Ask her when was the last time she saw a real man other than at Tammy's on Summer in a fold out.

Does she really have the nick name of "Strap-On-Orca"?

Attar boy, Thaddeus.

Only three comments about Willie over two weeks. Of those three, you posted two, but then erased them. Don't you think the African Americans have learned their lesson after observing the turmoil that Willie creates with his racism. He sure held his people back and under his thumb.

The intelligent folks in this city will not vote for the rip off man, Willie Herenton. Be sure and collect your ad fees in advance because there are not enough people out there that will contribute to this loser.

BUT LET IT BE A DECENT BLACK, NOT THAT WORTHLESS RIP OFF IMMORAL BOY NAMED WILLIE.

WILLIE ACCOMPLISHED VERY LITTLE WHEN YOU CONSIDER THAT HE WAS INSULTING AND SELF SERVING AT THE PUBLIC FOUNTAIN FOR MORE THAN FORTY YEARS.

LET'S NOT SHAME THIS CITY BY SENDING THIS CROOKED GOOF OFF OF SEVENTY YEARS TO OUR CAPITAL. WHAT DOES HE KNOW ABOUT EDUCATION, HE WAS FIRED AS SUPERINTENDENT, LAW SETTLEMENTS WERE MADE AS A RESULT OF HIS IMMORALITY. HE WANTED TO RETURN TO THE SCHOOL SYSTEM, BUT HE WAS TURNED DOWN. DON'T ALLOW HIM TO GO TO WASHINGTON, D.C. AND CONTRIBUTE TO A NATIONAL DECLINE IN PUBLIC EDUCATION.

STRAP-ON ORCA IS MY NAME

Yes, Strap-on Orca is my name
Playing the Wendi Thomas game
I'm big, I'm fat, and I'm bad
Proud of my weight, stupid lad

I've got a cousin named Shamu
Just let that bitch get ahold of you
She'll ride your ass into the ground
After calling Herenton a stupid clown

And then I will squeal
In The Commercial Appeal
Vote for Steve Cohen,black folks
This Willie Herenton is a joke Calling me a blimp and a cow
Don't let me get rowdy now

Cause I can really be mean
After I lick the platter clean
So bring out the KFC and the finger food
This campaign is getting good

So what's a few more pounds
As I make my newspaper rounds
I'm big, I'm fat, and I'm bad
And don't forget it, stupid lad

Other than those political party crashers looking for freebies and whining about their dark skin at the University of Memphis it appears Trash Willie has very little support.

Where are those foul mouthed school drop outs that supported Willie in his last election just before he begged to go back to work with the school system he fouled up?

So Thad, the last time I checked, there for several hundred thousand African Americans in Memphis. Out of all of them, why do you say that a washed up 70 year old has been who has said he hates the legislative process and took this city downhill for the past 10 years, has to be the great black hope?

I am a white man but agree with you that the 9th probably should be held by a black person. But if Willie Herenton is the best you can do, then let's keep Cohen for one more term until y'all can come up with someone better.

What was up with all these old goons hanging around that ballroom oggling the children?

Even old Chism was hitting on one of the 13 year old girls.

Bunch of nasty old bastards! Ought to be ashamed.

Well said. Anyone that would vote for Willie Herenton these days doesn't have much respect for the black race.

"But I wonder if Cohen will state that he does not want the votes of Black men who like Herenton have children out of wedlock."

A rather stupid analogy for Matthews to make, but what would you expect from stupid Matthews. One hell of a high percent of the black men in the ninth district have fathered and abandoned children out of wedlock, Matthews included.

WIMP VS. PIMP VS. BLIMP

As the 9th Congressional race kicks off with Steve Cohen shadow boxing with Willie Herenton, we have the classic bout of wimp versus pimp.

Now if Wendi Thomas decides to get into the race and finally run for elective office, then it will be wimp vs. pimp vs. blimp.

Shrimp, anybody?

I will NOT vote for Herenton, I am so tried of hearing him talk about race and the black community... he is a lier= he played the game:: brough the land from Greyhound gave the money to Moon, now he owns it, ego tripping= shake the haters off....with a DR degree and that is all you could come up with......there is a time and a place and he is outrages with everything that come out of his mouth, a quiter= why run for a office to quite, which cost the city more money = the city paid for an election run off etc, "on again/ off again" I change my mind "I am going to be the Mayor as long as I feel like, I will let you know if I feel like it" that is inmature BS......games, games we need an adult who care about the people of this community not this slezzy, ugly fizz bald. No intergity....he is not to be TRUSTED....There is more to me than color.....the United State will be laughing at Memphis if Herenton WIN.....and he will be laughted at if he win in Washington.....here comes that n***** with that BS, get busy with the issues at hand instead of another notch in your belt: Big Willie

THIS WONT GET YOU TO WASHINGTON. BUT IF IT DID YOU COULD PULL AN OBAMA, DO WELL UNTIL THE FOLKS WISE UP TO YOU, THEN HEAD FOR THE BOTTOM ALONG WITH THE COUNTRY AND OBAMA.

Well I dont think race will play such a large roll inthis election. Hopefully a good candidate will come in and take both of these two out. Is there a good and fair man left in Memphis to run for this seat. Will wait and see if someone comes out. Neither can get my vote.

BLAMING THE BLACK MAN

11:00 a.m. Feb. 12 is one of those fools who would blame a black man for all the economic problems of America.

Willie Herenton has not even been elected and already this poster has targeted Herenton as a convenient scapegoat for any future problems along with Obama.

What is wrong with so many in white America? Are they so stupid or so racist not to realize that this country was on life=support when Obama took over thanks to the disastrous George W. Bush administration? It will take years to clean up Bush's mess.

But yet you have the idiot teabaggers ranting and raving like lunatics against anything and everything good that Obama is trying to do. These fools are the reason for the problems America faces today, not convenient scapegoats like Obama and Herenton.

Anonymous said...

I saw you there shining Herenton's shoes Matthews.

Posted by another, probably one of those thousands displayed in police department identity pictures while still in their "ELECT OBAMA" T shirts

"Willie Herenton has not even been elected"

You are a dreamer, but then there are many out there who do not know which end is up within an election booth.

Just because a person thinks Herenton and Obama represent the pits in the offices they held does not mean they are a racist. One who thinks so is the racist.

I'd be ashamed to say that I had voted for Willie Herenton.

"Everyone will realize by November, Herenton was an excellent Mayor."

Especially those four hundred unneeded workers that he hired and elicited a promise from A C Wharton to let those dead beads stay near the kool ade fountain doing nothing. Now weak knees Wharton will have to fire others to avoid having his ass thrown out for keeping the city payroll from going out the roof. I just thought Memphis liked to pass jobs down to their off spring not their partners in crime.

NO COMPARISON

The Uncle Tom editorial writer for The Commercial Appeal, Otis Sanford, seems to think that there are a lot of similarities between teabag queen Sarah Palin and Willie Herenton.

That's just like comparing the KKK to the NAACP.

If you want to get the real analysis on bird brain Palin, just ignore Sanford's stupidity and read the Memphis Flyer's take on Palin, that she is no more than a throwback to the days of Gov. George Wallace, the misinformed lynch mobs, and the KKK.

It all boils down to an army of white racists who want to see black people stay in their place and who will never accept a black president. The teabag movement is for whites only.

And Palin and other demagogues have taken full advantage of rampant white racism to fill their pockets and bank accounts feeding off the ignorance and the stupidity of teabagging white morons.

It's all about money for the Palin crowd as they continue to make fools of ignorant white people.

For Herenton, it is about service to the people. Herenton is fully aware of the revival of white racism in this country and is determined to do something about it.

Otis Sanford must live in a fantasy world if he cannot see the Uncle Tomism in his editorials.
Either that or he is the biggest fool in Memphis.

"BIRTH OF A NATION"

If Otis Sanford wanted to point up any significant similarities instead of the silly comparison between Sarah Palin and Willie Herenton, he may have touched on the parallel between Sarah Palin's teabag movement and D.W.Griffith's
epic KKK 1915 movie "The Birth of a Nation."

For it's all the same thing, just at a different time in our history.
Griffith's epic depicts the birth of the Ku Klux Klan during Reconstruction as a means of saving white women from the sexual desires of freed black men. The teabag movement is designed to protect all whites from the political success of Barack Obama, Willie Herenton, and other African American heroes.

John McCain did this country a great disservice by turning his presidential rallies in 2008 into what were essentially KKK rallies that created an ugly racist icon in Sarah Palin.

This is what Otis Sanford should be writing about in his editorials instead of some ridiculous similarities between Palin and Herenton.
